19TH ANNUAL WINTER FANTASY CELEBRATES FINAL WEEKEND

Laguna Beach, CA – The Sawdust Art Festival is celebrating the close of its 19th Annual Winter Fantasy, A World of Art and Imagination, this weekend Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13 from 10 am to 6 pm each day. With total paid attendance for the first three weeks being up 9.3% from last year, Sawdust exhibitors and staff are closing out a great season. Closing weekend highlights include the following:

ß Over 170 Artisans – Don’t miss the last chance in 2009 to shop such a large collection of original art. Over 170 artists and craftspeople from all over Southern California and beyond will be on the Winter Fantasy grounds for one last weekend creating, exhibiting and selling their unique handcrafted artwork. With such a wide variety of art media, there is bound to be a special holiday gift for everyone.
ß Puppy Adoption – In collaboration with the Pet Rescue Group the Sawdust Winter Fantasy will be hosting a puppy adoption in the gazebo area in Town Square on both Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13. For more info on the Pet Rescue Group, please visit www.thepetrescuecenter.org.
ß Canned Food Drive   – The Laguna Resource Center, a local organization that provides supplemental food to over 80 families per day, is collecting non-perishable foods on Sunday, December 13 at the Sawdust Winter Fantasy near Pappou’s Mediterranean Grille. Donate canned food items and other non-perishable goods such as cereal, oatmeal, cooking oil and Mac & Cheese.
ß Smokey the Bear – The famous protector of our forests, Smokey the Bear, will be on the festival grounds this weekend. Tying into the theme of the Wyland Foundation forest conservation project, visitors can visit with Smokey the Bear and make a pledge to forest conservation by painting a forest shape for the mural. The mural pledge project will be held at the Winter Art Series booth.
ß Holiday Art Classes – A wide variety of holiday art and craft projects will be available at four interactive locations: Ceramic Center, Sawdust Studio, Children’s Art Spot and Winter Art Series booth. Class highlights include Winter Watercolor Cards with Linda Velasco, Animal Finger Puppets withStacey Taxin, Eco-prints with Terrell Anansi, Holiday Lanterns with Evelda Loftsgaard, Acrylic Painting with Donita Lloyd and Landscapes and Wildlife Photography with Paul Renner. Class fees range from FREE to a $5 donation and include all materials needed. All ages are welcome. ß Live Entertainment – On the Main Entertainment Deck, country rock group City Country City will be performing on Saturday, December 12 from noon until 4:30 pm. The Laguna Beach High School Jazz Band will also be performing on the Main Entertainment Deck on Sunday, December 13 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, and Upstream will close out the last entertainment hours from noon until 4:30 pm also on the Main Entertainment Deck.
ß Santa Claus – Remember to take your holiday photos with Santa this year. Jolly St. Nick will be in his house in Town Square from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Hours are 10 am to 6 pm.
