Sawdust Art Festival Artist Feature
For many artists, the Sawdust Art & Craft Festival is much more than a place to sell their art and creations. For local Laguna artist Donita Lloyd, the Sawdust community acted just as a family.
In 2013, Lloyd faced a battle with breast cancer, and the Sawdust community was behind her during her treatments, encouraging her and lifting her spirits. For four months, the Artists’ Benevolence Fund helped pay her medical expenses to ease the burden of her illness, and Lloyd’s triumph over cancer only invigorated her participation at the Sawdust.
Inspired by Monet “for his painting ability” and God “for his beauty,” Lloyd’s realistic art captures a snapshot in time, a moment that can never be exactly replicated. Her works were selected three years in a row to be featured as the art on the Sawdust Art & Craft Festival’s promotional posters.
