A retired landscape architect of 36 years, Fernando discovered a second career later in life as a plein air artist. He became an exhibiting artist at the Sawdust Festival in 2014.
Fernando draws inspiration for his paintings from nature and the beauty of all places where light interacts with the physical world. He finds that beauty is everywhere if you simply observe and are open to it.
When creating a painting, he begins with a scene preferably on-location. He then sketches a pencil value study, roughs in the design on the canvas/panel, and then with careful observation begins painting. His techniques include painting from thin to thick layers, dark to light value and clean color. Fernando is very passionate about his work and aspires to advance his art each and every day.
If you are interested in viewing his artwork, he is shows his work at Mission Fine Art Gallery in San Juan Capistrano.
