Oil painting is one of Nita’s passions. She paints local and other scenes from her photographs and en plein air. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she grew up in a suburb there, one of eight children. She discovered the joy of drawing when she was six years old and was mentored by her father, a talented artist who drew, painted and sculpted.
Nita studied and was influenced by the great Impressionists – Degas, Renoir, Monet, Cezanne and other of that era. She studied art at Saddleback College and attended various art seminars and workshops by national and local artists, Robert E. Wood, Michael Hallinan and Ken Auster. Nita is currently an artist member and regular summer exhibitor at the Sawdust Art Festival.
Nita finds a certain peace and serenity in creating paintings that reflect the beauty in nature that still surrounds us. She strives to capture that feeling in her landscapes and seascapes.
