Sawdust Arts Festival Artists’ Benevolence Fund Auction to be held Sunday, August 9

Laguna Beach, CA—The Sawdust Art Festival is hosting an Artists’ Benevolence Fund Auction on Sunday, August 9, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The Sawdust Art Festival is a nonprofit art organization dedicated to educating the public and promoting art created in Laguna Beach. This program was developed to help sustain artists through economic hardships due to personal illness, natural disasters or circumstances preventing artists from producing work.

The Fund began as the Artists’ Relief Fund in 1987, when artwork was auctioned to help a critically ill Sawdust Festival artist. In 1993, the fund was reorganized as a non-profit shelter within the Sawdust Festival and expanded to help not only Sawdust exhibitors, but any working artist in the city of Laguna Beach. With a $1,000 maximum monthly grant amount, the Artists’ Benevolence Fund has awarded over $100,000 in relief to artists in their times of need.

Anyone may contribute to the fund, but each summer, Sawdust artists selflessly donate their pieces to the annual fundraiser. This special event accounts for the majority of the revenue raised for the Artists’ Benevolence Fund. There will be both a silent auction and a live auction.

Come support this symbiotic relationship between artists and their patrons!
