Artist Bio

Originally from England, Lorraine grew up in Southern California. Early interest in art was put on hold while she attended college, earning a Degree in Business. She was a social worker in Compton, CA, for several years. While raising a family, she returned to art, discovering watercolor, and she found that creativity would be her new life. Her art instruction started at a local College and then from professional artists. She always says you learn more from watching the artist paint than from all the words, but then that is a visual talking!

Her work has been juried into numerous exhibitions, and since 2013, she has been a member artist in the Laguna Beach Sawdust Art Festival held June through August each year. There is also a 5-weekend Winter Fantasy with Sawdust each year. In Laguna Beach, her creations have been exhibited at Studio7Gallery, the Quorum Gallery, and Laguna Art. Once again, she has been juried into the Beverly Hills Art Show for May 2026. This is a popular event for artists and patrons in a beautiful outdoor setting.

An avid photographer, while traveling or just on the many daily Laguna Beach walks and hikes, she is inspired by nature, the human spirit, color, and light as it affects color and shadows. Her unusual use of watercolor can be found in metal cuff designs, which are great as gifts and adornments for any art lover. Watercolor on metal is particularly unusual and a unique way of using her medium.

Watercolor is so seductive and the array of textures, brights, lights, and contrasts is pure magic. Because art of all kinds, even the performing arts, have very solitary times by nature, festivals, exhibits, and demonstrations present a unique reward. Lorraine finds joy in creating, but the camaraderie of Festivals through the time spent with other artists and art lovers completes the artistic experience. Her works are available in Original, matted giclees, and cards. Commissions are an opportunity to work with clients and create the dream they have envisioned. Often these clients are met during festivals, because they see your style and can imagine it in their home. That creative tour together is all part of the memories that will be evoked in the final work.
