ENTERTAINMENT AT THE 2008 SAWDUST ART FESTIVAL ENHANCES THE ART EXPERIENCE

Visual art is enhanced with musical performances at the 2008 Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach.

Laguna Beach, CA – The Sawdust Art Festival is known as a top-notch visual arts venue, but it also boasts an amazing entertainment experience offering an eclectic mix of musical sounds now through August 31, 2008 in Laguna Beach. Performers entertain visitors, provide our artists with creative inspiration and enhance the Sawdust art experience.
This year’s “Summer of Enchantment” includes performances by 2008 Grammy Nominee for “Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album, Lisa Haley and the Zydekats Krewe
(CD, “King Cake”). *Performance dates: Saturday, July 26 (12 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) & Wednesday, August 6 (5 p.m. – 9:45 p.m.)
Bayadera, (alternative) performs after just receiving 2008 “Best Alternative Band” and “Best Song” for Red Shoes at the Orange County Music Awards in March. *Performance dates: Thursday, July 24 (5:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m.) & Saturday, August 9(5:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m.)
Missiles of October, (rock and roll), led by Poul Pederson has released several successful CDs in the last decade and continues to entertain people of all ages in the Southern California area. *Performance dates: Saturday, July 19 (5:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m.) & Saturday, August 30 (5:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m.)

Upstream, (reggae), a steel drum and reggae band return this summer bringing their island magic to the Sawdust’s enchanting atmosphere. The band has been together since being formed in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in the late ‘80’s. *Performance dates: Friday, July 11 (5:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m.), Saturday, August 9 (12 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) & Thursday, August 28 (5:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m.) Benise, (Latin jazz), returns for their 5th year at the Sawdust. With a spectacular PBS concert, worldwide tour schedule and numerous appearance requests Ron Benise
continues to support our local art festival by bringing his flamenco guitar and Latin jazz music to our visitors and artists. *Performance dates: Sunday, July 13 (12 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) & Sunday, August 10 (12 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) All entertainment is included with admission and is provided daily until 9:30 p.m. on three outdoor stages.

The 2008 Sawdust Art Festival is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., now through August 31. Regular Adult admission is $7; Seniors $6 age 65 and up; Children $3 age 6-12 years and Free for children under 5 years of age.
