Fused Glass Origami Bowl OR Sushi Set
with Maggie Spencer

origamibowl_spencer

Design and construct a colorful and uniquely shaped “Origami Bowl”.   This functional fused glass creation will be yours to use as a serving dish, or to display as your personal work of fine art! The “Origami” bowl is named for it’s unique shape.   It is about 9″ and is great for dips, salads, or just for display.

sushiset_spencerAny sushi or sashimi looks impressive on a colorful fused glass 8″ plate.   Coordinating 3″ dish is perfect for soy and wasabi.   Wood chopsticks are included.

Biomaggie-spencer
Maggie Spencer began working with glass as a hobby in the ‘70’s while studying Engineering Science at the University of California, Irvine. Though she abandoned the engineering, she kept the enthusiasm for glass, and in 1993 it became her career. She continually learns new glass techniques that keep her art evolving, energetic and enthusiastic. Maggie’s glass fusion radiates with capricious colors and shapes, an infusion that reflects her own Zen philosophy of a joyful and enriched life. She has maintained a studio in Laguna Canyon for over 20 years and is a long term Sawdust Festival Exhibitor.

Fused Glass Pendant with Cindy Stalnaker

fused-glass_stalnaker Create an eye-catching sparkling dichroic glass pendant with Sawdust Artist Cindy Stalnaker.   Learn the basics of glass-fusing and dichroic glass.   You will have the opportunity to choose your glass colors, while learning cutting and layering techniques for fused glass.   No experience necessary.   Note that due to kiln-firing times, your pendant will be mailed to you the week after the class.   If you need magnification glasses for close-up work, please remember to bring them.

Biocindy-stalnaker

Cindy returned to her artistic roots in 2002, after a 22-year advertising career.   She studied Fine Arts at the Silvermine College of Art in New Canaan, CT; and Metalsmithing at Saddleback College, Mission Viejo, CA. She embarked on her “glass odyssey” by undertaking a comprehensive series of instruction throughout California; Murano, Italy; and Stockholm, Sweden.   Her current body of work includes fused and slumped glass, copper enameling, and lampwork glass beads. In 2009, she appeared on HGTV’s That’s Clever crafting program, demonstrating her techniques for a decorative fused glass platter and dichroic glass drawer pulls. A Laguna Beach resident, Cindy exhibits at both the summer Sawdust Art Festival, as well as the Sawdust’s Winter Fantasy, and she is currently a member of the show’s Board of Directors.
