Laguna Beach Art Festivals to Hold Art Supplies Donation Days
August 18 and August 25
Donate an Art Supply and receive FREE admission to all three festivals
August 9, 2010 – Laguna Beach, CA – The Laguna Beach Passport to the Arts team, including Art-A-Fair,Festival of the Arts, Sawdust Art Festival and the Laguna Beach Visitors Bureau, will hold its first Art Supplies Donation Days thanks to a generous grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. On August 18 and August 25, festival goers who bring a new or unused art supply valued at $5 or more on either day will receive free admission that day to all three art festivals. Suggested art supplies to bring in are markers, colored pencils, small journals, sketchpads, sketching pencils, watercolor sets and watercolor pads.
Upon turning in their donated art supply, visitors will receive an embossed wristband that will admit them free of charge on that day to the three festivals. Donations may be turned in at the front entrance at each festival. Bank of America’s grant supports the free admission for art supplier donors, in addition to free shuttle service to the three festivals throughout summer and offset the costs of a discounted Passport program to encourage visitors to all three festivals.
In its desire to partner the art community with public service, the Laguna Beach art festivals’ Passport team selected Art & Creativity for Healing to receive the donated art supplies. Art & Creativity for Healing, an Orange County non-profit, has a gift box art drive program for Military personnel’s kindergarten through 8th grade children that have a mom or dad deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. These children attend San Onfore Elementary School located on the Camp Pendleton Marine Base in San Clemente/Oceanside, California.
Offering convenience for Festival visitors, the City of Laguna Beach will provide free parking from August 21-29 at Pavilions Shopping Center on North Coast Highway at Boat Canyon from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Visitors may ride a complimentary shuttle to the Laguna Beach bus depot (walking distance to each Festival) or transfer to a second shuttle that will drop off and pick up at each Festival.
Art & Creativity for Healing’s mission is to support emotional healing through art & creative expression for those living with pain, grief, fear or stress. Art & Creativity for Healing has often been referred to as a “hybrid” program—a mix of artistic development and expression coupled with a creative healing model that compliments traditional talk therapies with a unique approach. For more information, visit www.art4healing.org. The three Festivals and the Laguna Beach Visitors Bureau formed the Passport team in 2009 to offer the Triple Value Passport to the Arts. For just $19 (a $36 value), Passport holders receive unlimited admission to all three festivals through August 31, 2010.
