NITA SKAGGS – PAINTER

I discovered the joy of drawing when I was six years old.   I grew up in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, the second eldest of eight children.   My father, a talented artist who drew, painted and sculpted, was my mentor.   He was always involved in some form of art at home and I was fascinated and enthralled, drawing whenever I could.

I’ve been painting and studying art for many years.   My studies include watercolor, oil and life painting classes, art seminars and workshops conducted by national and local artists.

This is my seventh year as an exhibitor in the Sawdust Art Festival.   It’s been a rewarding time for me to be able to do what I love best – painting!   I find a certain peace and serenity in creating paintings that reflect the beauty in nature that still surrounds us.   I strive to capture that same feeling in my landscapes and seascapes.
