Sara Kirk

Sara Kirk was born in Coquille, Oregon and grew up on the Oregon coast.     She attended Reed College, and Carnegie Mellon University.   Sara received her BA from the University of California, Irvine, where she studied sculpture.   After studying graphic arts at California State University, Long Beach, she spent five years working as a graphic artist.   In l980, she returned to Long Beach to study metalwork and jewelry.   For the next l5 years she made and sold her contemporary jewelry in stores around the country, and at the Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach.   In l993, at the suggestion of a friend, she began making mobiles.

Sara’s long-time association with the Sawdust Art Festival has given her an opportunity to not only explore a variety of art forms; but also to develop and refine her work.
