SAWDUST ART FESTIVAL CELEBRATES ITS 42ND OPENING DAY, HAWAIIAN STYLE

Laguna Beach, CA – June 27 marks the opening for the 42nd annual Sawdust Art Festival: the “Summer of Enchantment.” Mayor Jane Egly, City officials, Sawdust exhibitors, and Board members will join Opening Day activities for a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m., officially beginning Friday’s “Aloha Day” luau. The first 500 guests will receive souvenir “Aloha” leis to celebrate the event, and guests can enjoy complimentary cake, candies and Laguna Beach Visitors & Conference Bureau bottled water. Lively Hawaiian music and Polynesian dancers will
entertain the crowds on the Main Entertainment Deck from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with World Anthem, one of the Southland’s most popular reggae groups, closing the “Aloha Day” festivities on the main stage from 5:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. During Opening Day, visitors of all ages can experience hands-on Hawaiian-themed art and craft projects at the Sawdust Studio and Children’s Art Spot, dine at any one of three outdoor cafés or enjoy a refreshing beverage at the Sawdust Saloon while listening to music at one of our three entertainment stages.

The 2008 Sawdust Art Festival is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., June 27 through August 31 (closing at 6 p.m. on July 4). The City provides ample parking and free
trolley service from the Act V lot for $7 per day. Act V is located on Laguna Canyon Road one-half mile north of the Festival. Free additional parking is available at South
Coast Medical Center after 3 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends, and includes a free trolley service to and from the Festival grounds.

Admission prices are: Adult $7; Seniors $6 age 65 and up; Children $3 age 6-12 years and Free for children under 5 years of age.
