SAWDUST ART FESTIVAL JOINS OVER 500 CITIES IN “EARTH HOUR”

(Earth Hour is Saturday, March 28, 2009 from 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm)

Laguna Beach, CA – Committed to implementing its green initiatives, the Sawdust Art Festival will join over 500 participating cities in “Earth Hour,” a designated 60 minutes of turning the lights off Saturday, March 28, 2009 from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Sawdust ArtFestival’s sustainability consultant, Chris Prelitz, encouraged the non-profit art organization to take this pledge against global climate change in assisting the Sawdust with achieving its green vision. Organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Earth Hour has grown to include 50 million people worldwide and 36 million in the US alone last year. With a goal of reaching 1,000 cities, this year’s count includes 500 registered cities and counting. The WWF “is asking individuals, businesses, governments and organizations around the world to turn their lights off for one hour to make a global statement of concern about climate change and to demonstrate commitment to finding solutions.” For more information about Earth Hour, visit www.earthhourUS.org.

The 2009 Sawdust Art Festival will open daily from 10 am to 10 pm, June 26 through August 30. Look out for the festival’s “green day” special event during the summer season. For more information call 949-494-3030 or visit www.sawdustartfestival.org.
