SAWDUST ART FESTIVAL VISITORS TO ENJOY A “SUMMER OF ENCHANTMENT” IN 2008
Visitors to experience a “Summer of Enchantment” at the 2008 Sawdust Art Festival’s Summer Show in Laguna Beach.
Laguna Beach, CA – Recently the Board of Directors announced the 42nd Annual Sawdust Art Festival’s Summer Show theme, “Summer of Enchantment.” 2008 Committee member and Sawdust artist, Cherill Doty explained, “after considering many themes for this year’s show, and not wanting to lose the momentum of last year’s highly successful campaign of getting to know the festival’s biggest asset, its artists, we decided to focus on the magic we create with our art.”
This summer’s Sawdust Art Festival will be home for 202 Laguna Beach artists to exhibit their original creations to 200,000 visitors from all around the world. The
magic created by the artists will be accented by the musical creations of our entertainers. In addition to the artists’ magic, the Sawdust will offer daily themed evenings. Beginning on Opening Day, June 27 with an island experience entitled, Aloha Friday, featuring souvenir leis to the first 500 visitors, Hawaiian music and hula dancers. Additional themed days are:
• Saturday Dance Night featuring dance bands on our Entertainment Deck invites visitors to bring their favorite dance partner to the Sawdust.
• Sunday features Sawdust artists hosting “neighborhood potlucks” in their own summer Sawdust neighborhood as visitors are invited to attend Meet Me at the Sawdust Sundays.
• Monday will offer musical hopefuls the opportunity to create their own magic at the Sawdust on Monday Night Auditions.
• Tuesday is Tropical Tuesday featuring Island musicians and the introduction of Jimmy Buffet’s new beer, “Parrot Head” at the Sawdust Saloon.
• Wednesday our Entertainment Deck hosts Jazz and Blues Night inviting our visitors to enjoy a summer evening of art, music and wine.
• Thursday nights are back by popular demand as Locals Night offering free entry to Laguna Beach residents with ID 5 p.m. to closing.
• Friday ends the week as Reggae Night with several area bands offering visitors and artists a chance to feel the music from “Jamaica-Mon.” Musical and strolling entertainers, art classes for children and adults, artist demonstrations including our world-famous glass blowing, complimentary art tours and more are offered daily at the Sawdust Art Festival. And, a variety of food and beverage are available at our outdoor cafés including the Sawdust Saloon.
