Intermediate Soldering with Erin Proctor
Previous soldering experience or taking Erin’s Basic Soldering class first is highly recommended**
Go beyond the basics and learn how to tackle more everyday soldering jobs that a jewelry maker must face. In this intermediate level workshop students will build on their torch skills and practice soldering in a more delicate and challenging situation. Each student will be guided through the process of soldering rings and clasps to the end of a necklace chain, soldering their jump rings closed, and everyone will make a pair of silver post earrings from scratch! Students may also bring in their own personal projects if they’d like to ask questions and receive guidance, and as always, Erin will also be available to discuss where to purchase tools and supplies for those seeking advice for making jewelry in their own home or studio.
This class is intended for students who already have some basic jewelry soldering experience to learn more and gain practice time. Students who have not had soldering experience will want to check out the Basic Soldering workshop.
**Students who have taken Erin’s Water Casting Workshop are also encouraged to bring unfinished pieces from that class to use for their earring project or they will have the option to challenge themselves by turning their Water-cast piece into a stunning cocktail ring!
