Often times it is said that to be a great Artist your work should reflect what you know, your origins and spirit. Raised on the Central Coast of California Sylvia started her artistic reflections early on with sketching. As her life progressed she finally fell into her passion of stained glass artwork. Her work reflects her upbringing and her love for the abstract beauty in nature. She has been refining her mastery of stain glass art skills for the last thirty five years. Every piece is constructed with the utmost care, and requires many hours so that she may bring it to life.
Sylvia first perfected her skills with color and then quickly progressed into mirrored and beveled glasswork. The softness of the beveled glass bestows timeless beauty into her creations. After she mastered her skills with glass Sylvia began to branch out, and started to work with both glass and metal, such as her kaleidoscopes. Later she also began to create mosaic mirrors.
All of her works obtain their own themes, whether the piece is a window, kaleidoscope, jewelry box, or mosaic. Everything that Sylvia creates is done with the pure love of designing.
In the past thirty five years of her profession Sylvia has entered a wide variety of shows throughout California and Nevada. She has participated in countless shows in forty different locations. To name a few, she has participated in Gilroy Garlic Festival, Art Walk in Thousand Oaks, Tapestry and Talent, Art Walk in Santa Barbara. Los Altos Art Festival, Walnut Creek, Danville, Half Moon Bay, Sawdust Festival/Winter Fantasy in Laguna Beach, and Art-A-Fair in Laguna Beach. The sole time she entered the Santa Barbara County Fair, in the professional class, she entered two pieces which won a first and second place.
