Don Romero

Don was born in Sante Fe, New Mexico, grew up in Orange, California and has lived in Laguna Beach since 1972.

Don’s early days contribute to what he loves to photograph. He gets his love and appreciation of horses from his years of riding his horse through the orange groves in early Orange County. He spent many summers on his relative’s ranches in Sante Fe and was surrounded with the life and daily work of cowboys and his father was passionate about flowers.

Don was first a commercial photographer. He spent 5 years traveling the U.S. photographing homes, restaurants and commercial buildings. The traveling and hard work of lugging all his equipment gear on and off airplanes took its toll.

That is when he found his passion for photographing people and turned to portraiture, owning and operating a successful portrait studio in Laguna Beach for 29 years with his wife and business partner, Lori.

Though Don does do works in color photography, his passion is Black & White photography.

He exhibited in the Festival of Arts for many years, displaying his Black & White works of flowers, cowboys, horses, and figurative studies.

His work was recently chosen to be included in the Festival of Art’s Permanent Art Collection.
