Fernando, a Laguna Beach resident, was born in Italy and immigrated to the US at age 4. He grew up in San Francisco and developed a passion for art and architecture. After pursuing the priesthood in Watsonville, CA and Pinerolo, he continued his studies in Italy for two years, obtaining his Liceo degree. Fernando ultimately returned to California, earned a degree in Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley, became licensed in multiple states and practiced for 37 years, working on many high profile urban design projects.

Upon retirement in 2014, Fernando pursued his lifelong passion for painting. He focuses on Plein Air and Representational art, capturing California’s beauty. He’s a Signature Member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and Artist Member, with both American Impressionist Society and California Art Club. He showcases his work at the Sawdust Festival and his own studio/gallery.

Fernando is dedicated to mentoring local students through the LPAPA Plein Air Project and teaches classes at the Sawdust Festival.

His artwork has received numerous Honors, Honorable Mentions and People’s Choice Awards and multiple articles including being featured in Plein Air Magazine’s “10 Artists To Collect Now” October, 2021.

Through his art, he aims to share the world’s beauty and inspire others. With his current career as a painter, Fernando finds joy and fulfillment in capturing and sharing the beauty around him.
