Artist Statement

My intention is for the energy in each unique piece I create to flow seamlessly from the canvas to leaded glass and hand carved wood directly into the room.

Artist Bio

Jesse considers himself very fortunate to have grown up in a family of amazingly artistic people.
As a child growing up in Costa Mesa, he learned his craft from his father Larry Miller, a master
woodworker. Through the years Jesse developed his own very eclectic style which is influenced
by the ocean, nature, and life experiences.

After choosing a theme for each work, he carefully selects the materials to be used. He selects
wood not only for its color and grain, but for the knots and imperfections that give it a special
character. He then looks at a large sheets of glass to find the specific section with the color and
grain that will match the wood. The canvas, which acts as a centerpiece for his finished work, is
meticulously painted with incredible detail. There is such a visual fluidity in his creations that
anyone familiar with his work can immediately identify a piece created by Jesse Miller.
Jesse has worked professionally in many types of media: graphic design, murals, screen printing,
clothing, drafting, painting, as well as wood carving and leaded glass. Jesse has currently been
building out bars and restaurants as well as residential environments bring his unique and
artistic flavor to every project.

Jesse has exhibited in the Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach from 2008 to 2016. He was
awarded the honor of Best New Artist in 2008, and was chosen as 1st place exhibitor in the
Mixed Media category for 2008, 2009 and 2010. In 2016 he completed an Artist Residence
program in San Francisco culminating in a solo show of his work.
