Artist Statement

As an artist, I find endless inspiration in the patterns, textures, and organic forms found in nature. My work explores the relationship between structure and spontaneity — combining geometric shapes with natural elements to create wearable art that feels both grounded and contemporary.

Each piece in my collection is a one-of-a-kind creation, handmade using either lost wax casting or wire wrapping. Through lost wax casting, I sculpt original designs in wax, then mold and cast them in sterling silver, preserving intricate textures and forms. Wire wrapping allows me to shape various types of wire into distinctive compositions, often incorporating suedes, semi-precious stones, and unexpected materials to evoke nature’s quiet complexity.

Jewelry, to me, is a deeply personal form of expression — a way to carry a story, a connection to the earth, or a moment of beauty. My goal is to craft pieces that resonate with people, becoming part of their own creative journey.

Artist Bio

Makaila Palmer is a Laguna Beach-based jewelry artist who creates organic, one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by the natural world. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from California State University, Long Beach, and currently exhibits at the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach, along with other regional art shows.

Makaila’s contemporary jewelry line is known for its intricate textures, geometric forms, and use of semi-precious stones and suede. Each piece is handcrafted using either lost wax casting — a process involving hand-sculpted wax models cast in sterling silver — or wire wrapping, where she shapes wire into unique designs using traditional tools.
