Artist Bio

Mary’s creative philosophy is simple: “Love the fabric or don’t touch it.” This guiding belief fuels her passion for designing and sewing one-of-a-kind wearable art. With an old-school, hands-on approach, every garment she creates is a true labor of love—deeply inspired by children, nature, and memories from her own childhood.

Her designs are charmingly practical, crafted primarily from cotton and adorned with vintage and repurposed materials—old buttons, lace, tatting, crochet, embroidered linens, and grosgrain ribbon—making each dress, apron, or accessory a unique, timeless piece. Mary’s work is meant to be cherished, worn, and passed down for years to come.
Her latest creation—a floral, witch-style sun hat—blends whimsy and functionality, offering a playful nod to fantasy while staying true to her signature handcrafted charm.

Before settling in Laguna Beach, Mary spent 25 years on the East Coast, where she studied and exhibited her work in painting, photography, and textiles. Her art has been showcased in esteemed venues such as the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, the Museum of Art in Laguna Beach, and numerous craft fairs across Maryland. She has also earned photography awards from Penn State University.

For the past two decades in Laguna Beach, Mary has embraced retirement by devoting herself fully to her art and growing family. A beloved Sawdust Art Festival artist for over 15 years, she finds deep joy in sharing her creations and inspiring others through teaching and connection.
