Artist Bio
As a child, I would watch my mother work on her ceramic Mosaics and would help her cut the tiles. I learned the basics from her! I decided to explore the beautiful world of Smalti Glass Mosaics – Smalti glass has been produced in Venice, Italy for centuries and is known for its beautiful colors and reflective qualities.
I have been making and showing my art at the Sawdust Art Festival for more than 25 years. With each piece I make, I like to challenge myself by taking inspiration from fine arts pieces by Van Gogh to Art Deco advertising posters. The self portraits of Van Gogh and “The Great Wave” are among my favorites to create. I currently teach an “Introduction to Mosaics” class year-round at the Sawdust. I enjoy teaching, especially to young people, in the hope that mosaics will not become a lost art.
